Motorola has just announced its extremely affordable Moto G smartphone, which is set to arrive on the market this month. This might as well replace the hard to come by and always “out of stock” Nexus 5 (16GB) for Android enthusiasts who really want a not so highly priced device that will surely receive the latest software upgrades fast.

Shortly after Motorola's official announcement, several carriers confirmed that they would offer the Moto G at some point. Thus, MobileSyrup reports that TELUS and Koodo Mobile will be announcing the upcoming release of Moto G.

Customers in Canada will be able to buy the Moto G via TELUS and Koodo Mobile beginning this month for $200 (€140) outright.

According to the cited source, TELUS will be selling the Moto G 8GB model in black, as well as the removable back cases and the flip case, but these will be charged separately. No price tags have been disclosed yet.

Although Motorola states that the Moto G will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, the US-based handset maker has confirmed that it will offer an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade at some point in January.

There's more to it, as Motorola has also announced that the Moto G will be available with 19 customization options through a similar Moto Maker program.

Aside from that, the Moto G seems like a solid device. It comes with a large 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for extra protection.

In addition, the smartphone is equipped with a decent 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

It also features 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
