Canadian mobile phone carrier TELUS has just announced a series of enhancements brought to its wireless network, with HSPA+ dual cell upgrades performed in Atlantic Canada.

Following the upgrade, the wireless carrier is capable of providing faster wireless Internet speeds to its customers living in Moncton, New Brunswick; Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Halifax, Nova Scotia; St. John's, Newfoundland, and other markets.

TELUS' HSPA+ dual cell network in Atlantic Canada is capable of providing wireless Internet download speeds of up to 42 megabits per second, while managing average download speeds of 7-14Mbps.

At the moment, the wireless carrier's network is available to 70 per cent of Canadians coast-to-coast.

The wireless carrier is set to deliver further network enhancements to its customers, and says that it is investing $1.8 billion in enhancing the 4G wireless service in the country.

“We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars year after year to bring the most advanced network technologies to our customers across Canada,” said Brent Johnston, vice-president of mobility solutions at TELUS.

“Our investment this year will enable Atlantic Canada consumers and businesses to enjoy TELUS' latest and greatest devices, such as the new Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet, on Canada's fastest coast-to-coast 4G network, with exceptional speeds and reliability.”

The wireless carrier already has a range of devices in its offering, that can offer support for the fast data transfer rates that the HSPA+ dual cell can deliver, and plans on adding even more of them into the mix, it seems.

At the same time, the carrier notes that it plans on offering its users with a transparent, fair and reliable customer experience through performing various changes to its services and rate plans.

TELUS has launched a series of Clear and Simple initiatives including Clear Choice rate plans with no system access and carrier 911 fees, free SMS data usage notifications, device unlocking services,” the carrier notes.

Moreover, TELUS says that its users can enjoy “international roaming rates that have been reduced by up to 60 per cent and are available without a complex travel pass, and redefined device ownership terms that make it easy to upgrade to the latest and greatest smartphones anytime.”
