T-Mobile announces pre-order availability for myTouch 3G, says it will come on August 5

The much-anticipated T-Mobile myTouch 3G has finally received an official launch date with the US wireless carrier, namely August 5. Although previous reports pointed towards August 3 as the possible release day, it seems that they were accurate enough to forecast the about-one-month-from-now availability. One thing that is new, however, is that the company already has the phone available for pre-order for its subscribers.

The pre-sales will last until July 28, T-Mobile states, and adds that those who opt for acquiring the handset during this period will get their units before the announced nationwide availability. In addition, the operator also says that the new mobile phone comes towards its users with the Google mobile experience, as it has been developed in collaboration with the Android maker.

Some of the integrated services that T-Mobile's subscribers will enjoy if they opt for a myTouch 3G device include one-touch access to Google Search by voice, Google Maps with Street View, YouTube and Picasa. With full touchscreen and a virtual keyboard, the new Android-powered mobile phone also enables users to customize it the way they really want, so that they would be able to enjoy its sleek and lightweight look and feel to the fullest.

“We’ve heard loud and clear from our customers that a deeper level of personalization matters to them,” said Denny Marie Post, chief marketing officer, T-Mobile USA. “That is why we placed so much emphasis on breaking the mold with myTouch 3G: to provide customers with boundless ways to make their phone a true expression, and extension, of themselves.”

Those who will purchase a new myTouch 3G from T-Mobile will be able to personalize it both on the inside and on the outside. A wide range of widgets, icons and wallpapers, will be offered for addition to the homescreen, while thousands of applications will also be available via the Android market, the carrier says. Moreover, it seems that a variety of accessories for the phone will also surface, including about everything from gel skins to device cases, wrist straps or covers.
