Owners of a BlackBerry Z10 smartphone on the network of wireless carrier T-Mobile can now download and install a new OS release on their handsets, as the operator has started delivering software version 10.1.0.2025 to them.

The new release weighs around 347MB in size and is being pushed over-the-air to all users who have an official firmware installed on their smartphones. The update will be delivered through BlackBerry Link as well.

“Beginning June 10, the BlackBerry Z10 will have a software update to BlackBerry OS 10.1 via OTA and BlackBerry Link. This update improves device performance, provides additional security, and resolves several known issues,” T-Mobile announced.

As part of this update, users should receive HD Voice functionality, a new Corporate Liable feature for increased security for those who use the device in highly regulated and secure corporate environments, and Mnemonic Phone Dialing, enabling users to dial phone numbers by name or number.

The update also improves device restarting during normal use, offers better battery life, improves cursor control when selecting text, and resolves various issues, such as deleting prior messages, stuck new voicemail indicator, and duplicate Gmail contacts.

Following the update, meeting invites should be showing the correct time, while caller ID is set to display information for contacts, as it should have been doing from the beginning.

Other enhancements that will arrive on BlackBerry Z10 as part of this update include:

BlackBerry Balance - Work and Personal accounts are now separated in BlackBerry Hub - You can disable access to the Work space using USB by IT Policy - An IT Policy restricts an application in the Work space from reading data in the Personal space

Cross Domain Email Warnings - Cross Domain Email Warnings occur when you compose an email message involving recipients that reside in different Internet domains. For example, if all current contacts are part of one domain, for example, [email protected] and a contact from a separate domain is added, for example, [email protected], a warning message will appear alerting the user that a contact outside of the first domain will receive the message.

Out-of-Box Experience Software Updates - Configuration and software updates now occur in the background as opposed to a visible task or step in the original release of BlackBerry 10.

Smartcard Support - BlackBerry 10.1 will support BlackBerry Smart Card Reader 2.0. Previous versions of the BlackBerry Smart Card Reader are not supported.
