Wireless carrier T-Mobile has just added to its offering a new Samsung smartphone running under Google's Android operating system, namely the Galaxy S II.

The high-end smartphone is set to become available for purchase on the carrier's network as soon as October 12th, yet those who would like to reserve a unit before that can now head over to the company's website here for that.

The Galaxy S II is available for pre-order from T-Mobile with a price tag of $229.99 (around 170 Euros) attached to it, with the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

The new device is on its way to T-Mobile with a series of various enhancements into the mix, including support for the carrier's fast 4G network, or a larger screen.

Samsung packed the handset with a dual-core application processor with each core clocked in at 1.5 GHz, and also enlarged its screen to 4.5-inches.

“The Samsung Galaxy S II offers our largest and most beautiful screen in a slim device, and with 4G speeds, it delivers one of the fastest entertainment experiences running on America’s Largest 4G Network,” the wireless carrier announced.

The new smartphone sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for 1080p HD video recording and a 2MP camera on the front, and includes 16GB of memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Some of the features the new device arrives on shelves with include:

- Quick access to movies through Samsung Media Hub and Netflix - Live and on-demand TV with T-Mobile TV in mobile HD - All displayed on a 4.52” Super AMOLED Plus screen

Other specs of this mobile phone include WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors. The smartphone is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and offers fast access to the Android Market for downloading Applications and games for it.
