Orange and T-Mobile UK set to announce the branding of their joint venture tomorrow

T-Mobile and Orange are reportedly set to unveil on May 11 the identity of their joint venture in the UK. The two companies announced the merging of their operations in the country a while ago, yet no specific details on the leadership team, the joint-venture's future plans and the likes were provided until now. However, a recent article on Mobile News suggests the two will unveil all the necessary info, including the marketing message and new company name, tomorrow.

50 executives from the two organizations are expected to form the leadership team, sources familiar with the situation stated, the news site reports. Moreover, it seems that the plan is to bring the new project to the market as swiftly as possible, without affecting the current operations, or the customer experience. Orange UK chief Tom Alexander and T-Mobile UK managing director Richard Moat should be included in the leadership team, along with the other four board members of the joint venture.

Here's what Mobile News comments on the matter: “It is expected personnel for the operation's direct sales, indirect sales, wholesale, marketing, branding, HR, finance, legal and corporate governance departments will be made clearer following tomorrow's announcement. A new-look corporate governance department will be required to deal with a significant redundancy plan by the merged business, from the points of view of both companies.”

Alexander and Richard Moat reportedly said the following in a combined statement to all UK Orange and T-Mobile staff: “It is likely it will be the talk of the industry, and will be the start of the two businesses coming together.” Alexander will serve as chief executive in the new joint venture, while Moat has been appointed deputy and chief financial officer.

Orange UK and T-Mobile UK announced the closing of their merging deal on April 1. The two revealed at that time that they would continue to operate as separate brands for the following 18 months, yet it seems the integration of their businesses would be performed faster than that, sources close to the deal suggested. For the time being, no specific info on the branding of the new entity emerged, yet some say the joint-venture might retain both T-Mobile and Orange brands.
