Wireless carrier T-Mobile has been long trying to lure BlackBerry customers into moving away from their handsets to new ones, with a $100 (€73) credit offer available for them, and the company has just decided to up the ante with a brand new deal, which involves grabbing a new Samsung device.

Those BlackBerry users on the operator’s network willing to make the switch will receive $200 (around €145) back from T-Mobile, in the form of a gift card.

For this promotion, T-Mobile has partnered with Samsung, which does not come as a surprise, given that the South Korean vendor has just made its Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone available for purchase worldwide.

In fact, the carrier makes it clear on its website that Samsung is involved in this deal, and it also notes that its BlackBerry customers can use said $200 toward the purchase of a new Galaxy S5 handset, should they want to.

“Now’s a great time to get a new Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Light, or even the brand-new Galaxy S 5. Simply upgrade your T-Mobile BlackBerry to a new Samsung phone, and we’ll give you a gift card for up to $200,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

“If you have a BlackBerry and are a JUMP! customer, log in to check your JUMP! eligibility at this time. If you’re eligible for a JUMP! upgrade, you’ll also get up to $200 back,” the operator also notes.

For those out of the loop, we should note that BlackBerry announced an the beginning of April that it had decided to discontinue its agreement with T-Mobile and that new BlackBerry devices would not be available through this operator shortly.

However, both the handset vendor and the wireless carrier announced that existing BlackBerry users on T-Mobile’s network would not be impacted by this decision and that their service would remain unchanged.

However, Magenta also decided to kick off a deal through which it provided $100 credit to those BlackBerry users interested in making an upgrade, even if that upgrade involved purchasing a new BlackBerry handset. The new offer on Samsung devices appears to be a continuation of that promotion.

On the page that it put up on its website to announce the new deal, T-Mobile also explains that Samsung’s handsets run under Android and states once again that BlackBerry users will continue to enjoy the same connectivity features as they did before on its network.

“Nothing’s changed, including how your current T-Mobile BlackBerry device operates on our network now or in the future. Just like every T-Mobile customer, you can count on the very best customer service, no annual service contracts, the fastest nationwide 4G LTE network—everything,” the carrier notes.
