14 DAY TRIAL // T-Mobile US has just announced price cuts for two of its high-end Android devices, the Galaxy Tab and the Samsung Vibrant
The prices have dropped $50, thus the new price for Galaxy Tab is $349.99 after a $50 mail in rebate, while Vibrant can be purchased for $149.99 after a $50 mail in rebate.
An internal document posted by TmoNews leaked the information a few hours before the carrier had the chance to go live with the offers on its online store.
Suggested retail price for both devices without contract remained the same, so customers will have to pay $599.99 up front for the Galaxy Tab or $449.99 for the Samsung Vibrant.
To take advantage of the new low prices for either of the two Android devices, customers are required to subscribe for a new two-year plan.
It is unclear if the new offer is time limited or the devices will continue to retail with the changed price until out of stock.
Samsung Galaxy Tab is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz processor (PowerVR SGX540 graphics) and features full HD video playback capabilities (up to 7 hours), as well as support for Adobe Flash 10.1.
The Android tablet comes with a 7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 600 x 1024 pixels resolution.
It sports a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, but also a 1.3-megpapixel secondary front-facing camera for video-calls.
Other features of the device include: HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS support, proprietary USB 2.0, 512 MB RAM, 16GB internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
Samsung Vibrant is powered by a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor and runs on Android 2.1 (Eclair) platform.
It comes with a 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution, as well as Gorilla Glass that protects the display.
Other highlights of the smartphone include: HSDPA and HSUPA technology, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, 5-megpapixel camera with autofocus, GPS with A-GPS support, 512 MB RAM, 16GB internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB card included).
