T-Mobile USA, North America's fourth largest mobile carrier, has just announced the next 14 US markets to get 3G services by the end of 2008.

A group of 8 markets will be able to enjoy T-Mo's new and fast network by mid-October. These are: Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Orlando, San Francisco, Seattle and Sacramento. Shortly after, the T-Mobile 3G network should be ready to roll in the following areas too: Detroit, Denver, Birmingham, Memphis, Miami's Tampa and Kansas City. Other important markets will be next in 2009.

Talking about the future of the T-Mobile nationwide network, Cole Brodman, chief development officer, stated, "With the faster data speeds delivered by our 3G network, T-Mobile looks forward to offering mobile products and services that place the full power of the Web in our customers’ hands."

At the moment, T-Mobile offers high-speed UMTS/HSDPA coverage in 13 metropolitan areas from across the US. These are: Austin, Boston, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York (New Jersey and Long Island included), Portland, Phoenix, San Diego and San Antonio.

With the future 14 areas mentioned earlier, the magenta carrier will cover a total of 27 markets with its 3G network, which means that, starting next year, T-Mo will be able to offer about any GSM/HSDPA handsets to its customers, making them forget about the times when their operator was the only one in US not able to provide 3G services and devices.

Currently, most of T-Mobile's 3G-enabled phones only support UMTS frequencies, while only one of them is HSDPA-capable: the newly released Sony Ericsson TM506 clamshell. T-Mobile says that, sometime in the upcoming months, several "new and compelling data-centric" handsets will be released. We assume that the HTC Android-powered device is one of them, so T-Mobile users seem to have lots of cool novelties to look forward to.
