14 DAY TRIAL // The System Center Monitoring Pack for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 went live on the Microsoft Download Center just days after the worldwide launch of the company’s latest enterprise resource planning offering. As the name implies, the free resource is designed to simplify the work of IT professionals needing to keep a close eye on Dynamics AX 2012.
Essentially, the pack offers IT pros a solution enabling them to monitor Dynamics AX 2012, provided that they’re also running System Center.
“The Management pack automatically discovers the entire AX environment such as the databases, reporting servers, analysis servers, enterprise portal server and application frameworks, and monitors each component for configuration, availability and performance,” the software giant said.
“The monitoring pack provides early warnings that an operator can use to proactively identify issues that could affect the performance and availability of the Dynamics AX system.”
Customers will need to be running System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2, in order to leverage the System Center Monitoring Pack for Dynamics AX 2012.
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 hit general availability at the start of August 2011, and customers worldwide can already purchase the new ERP solution.
However, the software giant has yet to officially launch Dynamics AX 2012, but will do so in an event planned for September 2011.
The Redmond company provided a list highlighting the new features of System Center Monitoring Pack for Dynamics AX 2012 version 6.0.923.0:
“• Visual representation of the entire Dynamics AX 2012 environment with health rollup
• Monitors for Database, AOS, Enterprise portal servers, Reporting servers and framework components
• AOS clusters and AOS Servers monitored
• Events view for AOS and Enterprise Portal Events
• SCOM Tasks for most common AX administrative actions.”
Along with the actual System Center Monitoring Pack for Dynamics AX 2012 download, customers will also be able to grab guidance from Microsoft on how to get the best out of this resource.
