Following the release of the first Beta development milestone of the next generation of System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft is now offering early adopters a chance to also test-drive International Client Pack 1. ICP1 is currently live on Microsoft Connect, and available alongside the Beta 1 bits for System Center Configuration Manager v.Next. The Redmond company has yet to decide an official label for the next iteration of ConfigMgr, and, for the time being, it is referring to the product as System Center Configuration Manager v.Next.

“In addition to there now being an official ConfigMgr v.Next website, we have the International Client Pack 1 available on the same Connect page as the full beta 1 product page. International Client Pack 1 (ICP1) contains international-language clients to use with System Center Configuration Manager v.Next Beta. The ICP1 download contains only the Config Mgr client files, not the English-language ConfigMgr vNext Beta, which is required,” Jeff Wettlaufer, Sr. technical product manager System Center, revealed.

System Center Configuration Manager v.Next Beta 1 was released the past week, but early adopters don’t necessarily need to go to Microsoft Connect to get the bits. Fact is that Beta 1 is also offered through the Microsoft Download Center. Still, in order to participate in the official Beta program, a visit to Microsoft Connect is a must. Connect is also the only place where Microsoft is offering International Client Pack 1.

“ICP1 contains the following languages (more to come – details will be available as we learn them): English and German,” Wettlaufer added. Of course, Connect is also the best place to provide feedback to Microsoft and help define the next release of the System Center Configuration Manager. Testers only need a valid Windows Live ID in order to sign in to Connect and join the System Center Configuration Manager v.Next Beta 1 program.
