14 DAY TRIAL // System Center Configuration Manager 2012 is the official brand for the upcoming version of System Center Configuration Manager, according to Aviraj Ajgekar, Microsoft India Regional Site Manager. Ajgekar revealed that Microsoft has decided the label under which the next major version of ConfigMgr will be released.
Early adopters that have been keeping track of the evolution of System Center Configuration Manager already undoubtedly know that the software giant has been referring to the next version of the product with the popular v.Next tag.
This will no longer be the case, as System Center Configuration Manager 2012 has been deemed the official successor of ConfigMgr 2007 R3.
“Configuration Manager v.Next has moved to its official product name, System Center Configuration Manager 2012,” Ajgekar stated.
Softpedia readers have been able to download the first Beta of System Center Configuration Manager 2012 as early as May 2010.
Of course, until now the solution was offered as System Center Configuration Manager v.Next, one aspect which is bound to change.
The Beta bits however continue to be available for download even at this point in time and early adopters should make sure to download the release and start test driving it as soon as possible.
As of mid-October 2010, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3 reached the release to manufacturing (RTM) development milestone, a version that introduces a number of enhancements.
