Regarding the security products

Even though Symantec didn't seem really concerned when Microsoft revealed that it will launch Windows OneCare, it seems that the situation has changed radically after the Redmond giant announced Client Protection and Antigen.

With these products, developed using the technologies acquired by Microsoft over the last year, the Redmond giant hopes that it will offer a better protection to companies that have chosen Windows as an operating system.

Symantec hasn't filed any official complaint to the European Commission, but has only showed its concern that the security products will be integrated in the next OS, Windows Vista.

As IDG News Service informs, Symantec's spokesperson said that the European Union has asked for this information, but it's not clear whether an investigation will take place.

Symantec criticizes the way in which Microsoft has chosen to enter the security products' market. Shortly after Microsoft has announced Client Protection, Symantec's CEO, John Thompson, said that he is considering an official anti-monopole complaint.

Microsoft could use Windows Vista as a catalyst for its security solution, which would be totally unfair and it would definitely violate the competition laws.
