The security company Symantec that caused a lot of problems for numerous Chinese users said that its compensation for the trouble was accepted by the users in the period granted for the registration process. If you didn't know, the security firm wrongly flagged some of vital files for the Windows operating system as dangerous and quarantined them. Because the antivirus product moved the Windows file, the operating system was damaged and failed to start.

Numerous Chinese users informed the security company about the problems, Symantec confirming the problems but managed to fix them quickly using a new update. According to PC World, Symantec closed the compensation campaign on Sunday, saying that it was a real success as most of the users accepted the freeware license. Symantec decided to offer some freeware licenses compatible with the company's products only to the users affected by the glitch.

Although the campaign was ended on Sunday, the company allows affected users to contact Symantec until July 15. "After this date anyone who missed the registration date should contact Symantec Customer Support or email symantec.authorised.support.cn[at]clts.com and we will give consideration to extending the date for that individual customer," the company said according to PC World.

Still, there are some users who didn't agree with Symantec's compensation, saying the security company must do much more in order to repair its image and re-win the users' confidence. "Symantec's response to its Chinese consumers lacks seriousness and sincerity," Alamus, the deputy director of the China Electronic Commerce Association's committee on legal and policy issues, said according to the same source.

In the recent period, Symantec was one of the companies that were often affected by security flaws and vulnerabilities because the hackers were continuously trying to exploit its programs. If you want to download some of the Symantec tool, you can find them on Softpedia.
