Never count Sly out of anything: even though Sylvester Stallone said in the past that he couldn’t possibly be doing action movies for much longer, he’s clearly not ready yet to put down the machine gun and step away from all the action.

The fourth “Rambo” film came out in 2008 and, though Sly has done 3 “Expendables” movies since then, in which he plays pretty much the same role, it was widely assumed that, no matter how much fans dreamed of a fifth “Rambo,” it would never happen again.

Well, I hope you didn’t bet any money on that, because Splendid Film has just confirmed the flick is now in the works because they acquired the rights for it. The story and translation are via Coming Soon, because Splendid Film is Germany-based.

“With Rambo V Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of No Country for Old Men. Like the last film, Rambo V is produced by Avi Lerner (The Expendables 1-3),” the press statement says.

There’s no timeline for the film and no other details are included but, as of now, it would be safe to assume a release date earlier than the first half of 2016 is not very likely.

By the way, Sly is pushing 70 now. Are you among those fans who believe he should just retire from doing action movies already, and focus on writing / directing / producing instead? Let me know in the comments section below.
