Worldwide leader in high quality digital maps and dynamic content Tele Atlas and navigation software company Sygic announced today that the newly launched 3D navigation product Sygic AURA was powered by Tele Atlas maps and content. The Sygic AURA solution comes to the market as a professional car navigation with a pedestrian-centric application, and is designed for those who own next generation smartphones and personal navigation devices.

According to Sygic, the new software solution is meant to offer enhanced navigation to drivers and pedestrians around the world, including information about the places around, as well as 3D visuals. The new product is set to become available for mobile users globally, the company announced. Moreover, it also notes that Sygic AURA will deliver full 3D content displays, including buildings, landscapes and elevation, and that the solution is based on Tele Atlas maps and content like Advanced City Models of major cities, 2D and 3D City Maps, 3D Landmarks and Digital Elevation Models.

“Consumers are seeking applications that deliver rich mobile experiences. Sygic AURA is a brand new product category, designed to meet this demand with a range of innovative navigation and location content,” Peter van der Fluit, senior vice president of Tele Atlas said. “Tele Atlas has worked with Sygic for several years to support its navigation application development. We are very pleased to provide its latest consumer navigation product with powerful location content and features.”

All the features powered by Tele Atlas are meant to enhance the clarity and reality of screen images received by end users, so that they can see exactly where they are and to easily find what they want. Sygic AURA also includes Tele Atlas Voice Maps and Safety Cameras, as well as a wide range of points of interest (POIs), so that users enjoy an improved turn-by-turn navigation experience. Moreover, the solution provides a series of social networking and community features that will enable users to stay connected with friends, see their location, or receive info on weather and traffic.

“Three years of development have culminated in Sygic AURA - our first application on the market that goes beyond other mobile offerings to combine pedestrian and car navigation, map display, POI search and social networking, along with data-free access to pre-installed digital city guides and Wikipedia, letting the users drive, walk and meet, even at places they would never expect to be,” said Sygic’s CEO, Michal Stencl. “With Tele Atlas on our side, we are able to offer our customers an innovative, high-quality 3D navigation solution of the future for today’s mobile experiences.”
