Gamers can enjoy 4 versus 1 tabletop-like experiences

The development teams at Digital Extremes and n-Space are announcing that they are working on a new Dungeons & Dragons video game called Sword Coast Legends, which is set to be launched this year on the PC and will allow four players to join together and cooperate as they seek to stop the dastardly plans of evil Dungeon Masters.

The experience seems to be close to how the game is played in tabletop form and is designed to allow the two sides to develop unique relationships as they work together and against each other to create interesting stories and situations.

The two developers are aiming to include complex tools in Sword Coast Legends, allowing a Dungeon Master to create interesting adventures that conform to the needs of the four players they are aiming to defeat.

Dan Tudge, the president of n-Space, states, “Dungeon Master Mode is going to allow players to quickly jump in and play as a real-time DM in a way that has never really been fully realized in a video game. DMs are able to adjust encounters, place, promote, manage and even control monsters, set traps, reward and punish party members – all in real time.”

The developer also says that he is aiming to develop the legacy of the classic Baldur’s Gate.

Apparently, there’s no scripting for those who play as the Dungeon Master and the world will be richer than in any other Dungeons & Dragons title before it.

The game also includes tactical party-based combat, complex progression systems for characters, and a solid set of narrative moments.

Sword Coast Legends also offers a classic take on the Dungeons & Dragons experience

The development teams are also including a more traditional take on the experiences built around Dungeons & Dragons, in order to permit a player to recruit companions from the game world and work with them to explore a single-player story.

The version of the universe which is being used to create Sword Coast Legends is 5th Edition, but so far no details about the story have been offered.

Six unique characters are planned for inclusion, and players can also choose from five races for the protagonist.

Sword Coast Legends will come in two versions, a single-player one with just one key and a Campaign package which comes with four others with deep discounts offered, to make sure that gamers can enjoy the core ideas out of the box.
