14 DAY TRIAL // Actress Susan Sarandon is part of the Hollywood elite, having appeared in films for well over 40 years, and yet it seems that she too can drop bombs that shock the world. In a jaw-droppingly honest statement, the 67-year-old actress admits that she was stoned at just about every award show she's attended.
This shocking confession was made while she was playing a game of “Plead the Fifth” on the TV show “Watch What Happens Live” on Wednesday. When prompted by show host Andy Cohen to “name one major Hollywood event that you showed up to stoned,” the actress replied “Only one?”
“I would say almost all except the Oscars,” she confessed with disarming sincerity. It's a known fact that Susan Sarandon is an outspoken proponent of the legalization of marijuana. She also seems to have puffed a little bit before any major award show and no one was able to catch on.
She seemed to be relieved by the confession, because right after she made it, she went into a hearty laugh followed by a knee slap. The “Thelma and Louise” actress was also on the show with Ralph Fiennes and they were seen to enjoy a drink or two.
Eventually, she chose to “Plead the Fifth” when asked about a celebrity she has hooked up with, but promised that her new book would be a tell-all where she would reveal to readers about “all the people I couldn've been and didn't.”
The Oscar winning actress probably dreads the interminable star-studded red carpet events, which is why she chooses to light one up to relax herself.
Throughout her long career, she has managed to be invited to a lot of these award shows. Highlights include eight Golden Globes and four Emmy nominations, as well as five Oscar nominations and one win for “Dead Man Walking.”
