14 DAY TRIAL // Good news for MMOFPS fans looking for a post-apocalyptic setting, as Survarium is about to open its doors to anyone wanting to try it out.
Survarium is a free-to-play MMO first-person shooter type of game, set in a post-apocalyptic world where the few survivors left after an “ecological catastrophe” try to re-conquer the Earth.
Although the world after the apocalyptic event is reigned by chaos and anarchy, the survivors have already managed to organize themselves in factions fighting for supremacy.
The setting might sound pretty familiar to those who have previously played STALKER, a game developed by Ukrainian developer GSC Game World.
That’s because some of the developers who created STALKER are now working on bringing Survarium to PC players. The new studio now working on Survarium is called Vostok Games and comprises experienced developers.
Survarium will offer three gameplay modes, but they will not be available from the start. According to developers, the following modes will be available in Survarium: Team play, Co-op playthrough and Free play.
The open beta will only contain the PvP game mode
The game was initially set for release in Q4, 2014, but it looks like it’s now being delayed for 2015. The good news is Vostok Games has just announced it will kick off the open beta for Survarium on January 5, 2015.
The open-beta will be available on Europe and should not hinder the development of Survarium. Developers have also confirmed that during the open beta players will only be able to experience the PvP game mode: Team Deathmatch and Battery Retrieval.
However, Vostok Games promises that beginning next year they plan to add many new features to the game that should bring new content and improve performance, graphics and feel.
The open beta of Survarium will be available in multiple languages, including English, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish and German, but additional European languages will be added.
