We have been hearing rumors about Tesco releasing its own branded tablet dubbed Hudl for a while now. This week however, we managed to pinpoint a certain timeframe for when the event is bound to happen.   Pocket-lint reports having received an invite from the shopping giant which extends a proposition to attend an event scheduled for September 23.

Apparently, the company has “something to show” and with the hash tag “LetsHudl” attached to the summons, there's practically no reason to doubt we're in for a slate unveiling.

When out and available for purchase, the Hudl will be competing directly with similar devices like Amazon's Kindle Fire HD, the Google Nexus 7 and, of course, Apple's iPad mini 2.

The price is expected to be an affordable one, enough to get it up close and personal with the Kindle Fire HD.

The slate will come pre-packed with a bunch of apps that will aid customers in setting up online grocery lists or managing their Tesco finances. The Tesco native streaming service Blinkbox will be also offered in the deal.
