Given the fact that the security of one's data is such an important topic nowadays, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that most storage solutions' manufacturers also come up with all sorts of products delivering an enhanced level of safety for the data stored within, as is the case with the new flash drives from SuperTalen, known as DataGuardian.

These new drives are extremely easy to use, since one will simply have to plug in the DataGuardian and an application is automatically launched from the drive’s firmware (on-chip), prompting the user to input a password in order to gain access to their data.

But the DataGuardian also offers some “added-value” features, such as blocking all Auto-run based malware attacks, a malware propagation technique that's been particularly popular with hackers over the past year or so.

Beside offering the aforementioned advanced security features, the DataGuardian also features a rather OK amount of storage space (at least according to today's standards), since it's available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB versions.

Unfortunately, the DataGuardian also has somewhat of a minus, namely the fact that it only packs a USB 2.0 interface (capped at 480Mbps transfer speed), but we certainly hope that SuperTalent will also release a SuperSpeed (USB 3.0) model at some point in the future.

“We developed the DataGuardian based on input from our customers. Security is a basic need for portable data storage and so is the ability to use it anywhere. The challenge was to make it simple. The DataGuardian does just that,” CH Lee, COO of SuperTalent, stated.

Unfortunately, the company's rep has not provided any significant details regarding the pricing and availability of their new USB flash drive, but we're certainly looking forward to finding out more details on these very important topics as soon as possible.
