Even though most laptop memory modules settle for a memory speed of 1,333 MHz, Super Talent decided that its newest SO-DIMM should be fast in addition to just capacious, so it practically created a 4GB laptop module of 1,600 MHz.

Though laptops come in many shapes, sizes and performance ratings, there are still some so-called limits that even the higher-end models have trouble surpassing.

Granted, there are some notebooks with better hardware than many desktops, even higher-end ones.

Still, mobile PCs usually end up with slower memory and graphics than what is possible on high-end desktops, for reasons such as battery life and cooling challenges.

As such, laptop-aimed DDR3, the so-called SO-DIMMs, don't exactly have frequencies of more than 1,333 MHz.

Now, this situation has changed, as Super Talent has brought forth a module that goes all the way up to 1,600 MHz.

The company actually describes this product as the first of its kind and expects it to be used in such things as gaming notebooks and portable workstations.

The outfit also claims that its new creation has been tested with 17-inch HP Envy 17-1011NR mobile workstation.

“As memory technology continues to move forward Super Talent will continue to push the limits of what is possible and deliver the fastest solutions available.” stated SuperTalent COO, CH Lee.

The Super Talent 4 GB SO-DIMM (small outline dual in-line memory module) of 1,600 MHz is supposedly already in production.

Unfortunately, the company did not exactly mention how much it will costs, which means that those interested will have to wait until it shows up as an option on high-end notebooks.

This is slated to occur sometime during the next few weeks, which means that, at the very least, the wait won't take that long.
