14 DAY TRIAL // Super Talent announced the launch of a new line of DDR3 memory modules that are aimed at gamers and computer enthusiasts as it comes with high clock speeds and aggressive latency timings. The combination of those two features is called by the manufacturing company, Super Talent, the Project X and it also comes with a distinctive memory cooling solution.
Project X represents the most advanced line of memory modules that are manufactured by Super Talent and - according to the company's press release - it combines ''blistering fast clock speeds with aggressively tuned latencies''. The two new memory modules that are now released under the Project X designation, the W1800UX2GP and the W1600UX2GP, are coming with high clock frequencies, as there's only a handful of solutions from companies like OCZ that are offering a higher running frequency.
As it name says, the W1800UX2GP DDR3 memory module comes running at 1800MHz and it uses pretty aggressive timings like 7-7-7-21, but unfortunately it must use a higher than normal 2.0V in order to be able to operate in a stable fashion. This Super Talent memory module is being sold in a kit variant, 2x 1GB, just like the other new part, the W1600UX2GP, which is running at a lower clock frequency of 1600MHz. Apart from the lower clock, the W1600UX2GPalso comes with better latency timings of 7-6-6-18, while operating with a standard 1.8V.
In order to keep the memory modules running stable at high clock speeds and aggressive timings, the Project X line comes equipped with an innovative cooling solution that simply doubles the heat dissipation area as it contains 106 percent more aluminum mass than standard heat spreaders, while a special Super Talent thermal adhesive compound is used to bridge the gap between the memory chips and the heat spreader. According to Joe James, Super Talent Marketing Director, ''Project X now stands without peer as the world's premier DDR3 solution. These kits support obscene clock speeds, carefully tuned latencies, and incorporate an advanced thermal dissipater that makes them as sexy as they are fast''.
