It appears that Super Talent decided this was an opportune time for its newest solid state drive series to make its debut in all its high-speed glory, giving it the name of TeraDrive CT3.

The past couple of days, one might say, were administered a fairly healthy dosage of news regarding the storage industry.

Samsung and Toshiba (the latter in collaboration with Hynix), for example, are showing off next-generation solutions that will greatly surpass NAND and DRAM, respectively.

Still, while waiting for those ReRAM and MRAM product to arrive, something that could take years, companies are sticking to what works right now.

Thus it was that, much in the same way that Green House showed off a new flash drive series, Super Talent has also presented a new product line.

Unlike Green House, however, Super Talent went for the larger medium, that of solid state drive, this leading to the creation of the TeraDrive CT3.

As one would expect, they (there are four of them) feature the 2.5-inch form factor, the one usually chosen for this type of storage solution. Thus, they work in both desktops and laptops.

With a MTBF of over 2 million hours, they support the TRIM command (which maintains performance over time) and are constructed out of 25nm chips.

For those that want even more specifics, the type of NAND Flash memory chosen was MLC (multi-level cell).

Finally, high-end performance is ensured by the support for the SATA III (SATA 6.0 Gbps) interface, made possible by the SandForce SD-2200 controllers.

As one may have guessed, the read and write performance is dependent on the capacity of each model , but the upper limits are 550 MB/s when reading and 530 MB/s when writing.

64 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB SSDs exist and the official announcement can be found here.
