Super Talent may have unveiled the DataGuardian secure flash drive unit a short while ago, but it seems that the company is ready to send them over to consumers' doorsteps.

Flash drives may have started out as not overly impressive, as they didn't, at first, have too great a storage capacity.

Still, with the evolution of NAND Flash chips, they began to get higher and higher storage capacities, and then their makers decided to add extra features.

Thus it was that USB sticks started to get such things as rugged enclosures, hardware encryption or antivirus software pre-installed, or more/all of those things at once.

Of course, depending on how well-rounded the device turns out to be, its price can turn out too steep for the majority of consumers.

Super Talent tried to balance security with affordability when it created the DataGuardian series of USB flash drives.

It does not have USB 3.0 support, meaning that the transfer rate is limited to USB 2.0's 480 Mbps.

On the other hand, it does have a set of perks in terms of data protection, such as a password system that blocks access to unauthorized users. Also, there is a feature that blocks auto-play malware.

As far as design goes, the Super Talent implemented a slide-out USB connector mechanism (capless build), while the small casing is made of metal, for extra durability.

Finally, three versions are available, if one is to go about storage space, those being of 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB, respectively.

Either way, the physical size of all three plug-and-play solutions is 61 x 23 x 9 mm and full information can, naturally, be found on the company's official website.

As for pricing, they sell for $12.50, $19.99 and $39.99, respectively. Finally, any purchase is backed up by a lifetime warranty.
