The past week has seen a fair share of SSD launches, but flash drive releases were not as numerous, something that Super Talent is, apparently, determined to change with the ST2.

There is much that can be done with just a small USB flash drive, especially those with support for the latest Universal Serial Bus Standard.

More than just storing files, such things can be used for backup and recovery, as well as PC security and password protection.

All in all, it is no wonder that this type of NAND Flash-based storage solutions grew in popularity and stole much of the market share of optical disks.

The past week, however, was not particularly rich in USB drive product launches, even as solid state drives (internal or external) came out one after another.

Super Talent has now broken its quasi-silence in order to remedy this situation, making the best of what flash memory and aluminum can provide.

What that means is that the company took NAND Flash chips and, along with the obligatory controller, packed it inside and aluminum frame.

Beneath said gray case lies a storage space of 8 GB, 16 GB or even 32 GB, all of these models boasting a dual-channel design.

Performance-wise, this leads to reading speeds of 67 MB/s and a write rate of up to 24 MB/s.

All the above features are packed inside a frame measuring 70 x 18 x 8 mm, making the ST2 somewhat bigger than the tiniest USB drives out there, but still easy to slip inside even the smallest pockets.

Finally, for aesthetic appeal, the outfit went for a blue translucent plastic trim, allowing the enclosed blue LED to gleam through.

Super Talent should already have the USB 3.0 Express ST2 flash drive in stock, with a price of $20 for the 8 GB version.
