DuraDrive is a brand that Super Talent has long used for its sturdier than normal solid state drives. The latest additions to that collection have been released.

Called DuraDrive AT3, the newcomers are odd in that they only support SATA II technology, not SATA III. Thus, their performance is quite limited to what they could be for SSDs. Which is to say, instead of reaching 400-500 MB/s or more, they can only read data at 250 MB/s and write it at 170 MB/s.

As far as ruggedness goes, the drives bearing the I-Temp coating are the really tough ones, withstanding -40°C to 85°C / -40 °F to 185 °F as opposed to the 0°C to 70° / 32 °F to 158 °F of the normal ones.

The temperature resistance is the main reason why the DuraDrive AT3 are pegged as suitable for industrial use, though the shock absorption and coping with altitudes and humidity also play a part.

Finally, the Super Talent DireDrive AT3 SSDs possess ECC/EDC support, bad bit management firmware and patented wear leveling technology. Unfortunately, the company did not see fit to provide any pricing information for the newcomers. Nor did it say for sure if they would be available through retail or just to customers from the aforementioned field upon special orders.
