Designed with up to 128MB of DRAM cache

As the technology for Solid State Drives continues to advance, vendors of Flash storage solutions are continuing to update their product lineups with the introduction of new drives to provide users with more efficient, higher-capacity storage solutions. Such is the case with leading vendor Super Talent, which has just announced the launch of its new line of MasterDrive SX SSDs, designed to incorporate 128MB of DRAM cache and deliver higher levels of read and write speeds. According to the memory vendor, the new solutions are an ideal choice for notebook users looking to increase their notebook's storage, while also boosting overall performance.

“We developed the MasterDrive SX series to offer extreme reliability at an aggressive price point that makes sense for mobile professionals and enthusiasts. Moreover, these drives boast power efficiency and write speeds that few SSDs can match”, Super Talent Director of Marketing Joe James said.

With the launch of the new series, Super Talent announced that the new drives were based on an advanced 8-channel controller and MLC NAND Flash, combined with 128MB of DRAM cache and an SATA 3Gbps connectivity interface. According to Super Talent, this new feature enables the drives to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 220MB/s, while on a sequential write speed level, speeds can reach an impressive 200MB/s. As with most of the other SSDs available on the market, the new ones will provide for a more energy-efficient storage solution, with a quieter operating environment and longer battery life for the user's notebook.

The new series will be available with capacities of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, all of which will be part of the vendor's new line of 2.5-inch SATA II MLC SSD family. As far as pricing and availability go, Super Talent announced that the new MasterDrive SX SSD series was already available through retailers such as NewEgg and SuperBiz with a starting price of around US$359, for the 128GB drive model.
