Before hotpants and tiny tops resembling bandeaus were norm on stage for any female music performer, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake caused a huge controversy with their Super Bowl 2004 Halftime performance, which ended with him ripping off one of Janet’s leather corset cups, revealing her breast.

The Super Bowl XLVIII was this Sunday, marking 10 years since the aforementioned “wardrobe malfunction,” which was aired live on TV and viewed by millions of people, landing the NFL in hot waters over breaching indecency laws.

BuzzFeed reports that music and sports lovers were so taken back with nostalgia on the 10-year anniversary of the Nipplegate that they actually went online and streamed more music from Janet Jackson. Not Justin Timberlake, just Janet.

“According to data released by Spotify, streams of Jackson’s songs increased 16% on Monday, the day after the Seattle Seahawks crushed the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII,” the report notes.

“The increased interest won’t exactly produce a financial windfall for Jackson, however. Late last year, the company estimated that the average song generated between $0.006 and $0.0084 per stream in royalties,” adds the same media outlet.

Not that Janet needs the money that badly.

Above is a segment of the controversial Halftime performance and, yes, it includes that much talked about moment as well.
