The Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines campaign add-on for Xbox One exclusive shooter Sunset Overdrive is now live everywhere in the world.

The game was released during last year's fall, quickly becoming one of the platform's best titles, and earning the adulation of the masses for its over-the-top brand of action and its open-world setting.

The stellar visuals and varied gameplay elements, together with the many innovations made to the third-person shooter genre, secured the game's spot as one of the Xbox One's most refreshing experiences.

Owners of Microsoft's latest home console can either get the add-on as a standalone release or through the Season Pass, purchasing it together with the Mystery of the Mooil Rig and the Weapons Pack, at a more advantageous price point.

Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines tackles the billion-year old conflict between man and machine, which has now come to the world of Sunset Overdrive.

"A rescue mission to save Sam's old mentors from the Fizzco Robotics Factory quickly turns into an all-out assault to counter-hack and dismantle Fizzco defenses. Don't worry. For you, hacking equates to pulling triggers and laying waste to a bevy of upgraded Fizzco bots," developer Insomniac Games writes on its website.

A bunch of exciting new content

The DLC features a brand new campaign story to follow, as well as new weapons, traps, Amps, enemies, clothing, and a sprawling new area to explore and have fun in. Players are able to enjoy dying at the hands of some new and improved enemies, providing a real challenge to veterans looking for tougher enemies to test their skills on.

The game also has two new achievements to hunt down, The Worst Job in the Kingdom and Fizzie Says April Fools, for people trying to get their GamerScore up.

In addition to the new content coming in Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines, Insomniac Games has also issued an update consisting of some bug fixes and general improvements, and has slashed down the price of Sunset Overdrive for everyone.
