SunCom's acquisition by T-Mobile, the fourth largest mobile carrier in the US, is now complete up to its last stage – rebranding SunCom and launching T-Mobile services in the markets where the ex-carrier was present, which include South and North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Former SunCom subscribers can keep their old phone numbers as well as their old devices if they wish to. Moreover, they can choose T-Mobile rate plans similar or greater than the ones they had with SunCom. Obviously, the new customers have access to all of T-Mobile's range of handsets, data plans and services, just like any of T-Mo's already exiting users.

The retail stores that until now bared the SunCom logo have become T-Mobile locations, so that consumers can easily shop for products and get informed.

Sue Nokes, chief customer and operations officer at T-Mobile USA, stated, "Today, millions of consumers now have a new and powerful choice in national wireless communications – and that choice is T-Mobile. Our commitment to customers, existing and new, is that you will find a happy home with T-Mobile. Our customer service is top-ranked. We've invested millions to build out local networks. And we have a proven track record of bringing dynamic new offerings to market that make it easy and convenient to keep important people close – no matter how near or far they are."

With the occasion of the SunCom – T-Mobile transition, two new websites were launched, accessible at this address (for the US) and this address (for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands), where users can find all the info they want regarding their new carrier.

SunCom's acquisition by T-Mobile was announced back in September 2007 and it was approved in February this year. In order to own the regional carrier, T-Mobile paid about 2.4 billion USD in cash and assumed debt.
