Sun Java System Communications Express customers should beware of a phishing scam that attempts to collect their email addresses, usernames, passwords and location details.
PhishTank came across a sample of this phishing page on Google Docs.
“Due to much junk/spam emails you receive daily, we are currently upgrading all Sun Java™ e-mail account spam filter to limit unsolicited e-mails for security reasons and to upgrade our newly improved Sun Java™ e-mail account features to ensure that you do not experience service interruption,” reads a message on the malicious page.
The fact that it’s poorly written should be a clear indication that it’s not a legitimate request from Java.
Google has removed this particular webpage, but that doesn’t prevent the cybercriminals from setting up a new domain to host their plot.
Sun Java System Communications Express users are advised to be cautious if a link from an email takes them to such a page.
