14 DAY TRIAL // Last Thursday morning, the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, DC announced the birth of a pair of Sumatran tiger cubs.
“If you’ve been glued to the panda cams watching Mei, jump over to the tiger cams: We have 2 brand-new cubs!” the zoo wrote on Twitter.
Damai, the female tiger that gave birth to them, has never had any other cubs before. However, she appears to be doing a good job looking after these two rascals, Huffington Post reports.
Zoo keepers say Damai did not refuse to let her cubs nurse. As they explain, this is a sign that she feels comfortable being a mother and that she has no intention of rejecting her offspring.
Provided that things go according to plan, the cubs will go on exhibit this coming autumn. Till then, fans will have to settle for pictures and videos of them.
