If you're considering getting a short pixie 'do, here are a few things you should take into account

Short hair is an ideal option for summer - it's easy to wash, dry and style and it gives us a flirty, summery feel that many of us have missed during the long winter months. Also, the perception according to which short hair automatically makes a girl appear boyish and a bit of a prude is long gone, with virtually tens of possible modern and trendy looks available for the ladies who want to experiment with short hair. A word of caution, however: if you already have short hair and are only considering a new cut or style, that's OK, but if you're thinking of cutting your hair to achieve the short 'do, you will have to live with it for a while - so think it through before going short.

Another thing to consider is styling your short hair. A styling flat iron is pretty much a must-have if you're considering getting a short 'do. The vast majority of styling gels and sprays work for any hair length - however, look for a hair gel that provides real texture, as well as anti-frizzing serums that will keep and rebel locks under control. One of the basic short hair looks is the messy hairstyle - a choppy-looking haircut styled to look unkempt with lightly side swept bangs for added volume. If your hair is not (yet) pixie short, you can try a more sophisticated look - the short crop with bangs. It's a relatively easy to achieve layered cut. Ask your stylist to give you asymmetrical bangs - it's a softer look and will match any facial shape.

Another possibility is to go for a boy cut. This is recommended for ladies who know for a fact that they look good in this cut - or at least that they look good with short, cropped hair. It's a cute choice and by far the most classically sophisticated among the ones mentioned here. Due to its mixed front bangs, it creates a frame for your face, bringing out the eyes and the lips. It is an extremely short 'do, which doesn't recommend it for first-timers in what concerns pixie cuts. It doesn't go well with round faces, though, and you need to ask your stylist to pay particular attention to the bone structure of your face before attempting such a style.
