When Scarlett Johansson married Ryan Reynolds, whom she had been seeing not for long, in September 2008, after a little over a year of dating under the radar, the entire showbiz industry was taken aback with surprise. Shortly after the initial wave of disbelief, Scarlett’s rep confirmed the news, but refrained from offering more details on the relationship between the two. The latest issue of “Harper’s Bazaar” sheds more light on this, as it features a lengthy interview with the actress, precisely on this subject.

On a heavy promotion campaign for her latest film, “He’s Just Not That Into You,” the topic of her shock marriage inevitably came up. For once, Scarlett was willing to rid herself of the usual aura of secrecy that surrounds here, and to speak in more concrete terms of her relationship with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, as well as about their married life.

Speaking of what saying “I Do” did for her in terms of having to change and adjust her life to someone else’s, Scarlett says that it all came naturally to them. There wasn’t any “big leap,” but nor some deep epiphany she could share right now with the rest of the world. “I feel like everything is really normal, it’s calm and natural, like the way it should be. I have no perspective on it because it’s been such a short time. I would never try to profess some knowledge that I discovered. I’m happy and it feels very regular, which is good.” Scarlett tells the mag.

As for Ryan’s proposal and what must have been one of the most romantic moments of their lives, Scarlett says that it too came naturally, “but anyone being presented with a beautiful diamond ring, as a girl, you just squeal with delight.” Just like the ceremony that followed suit a few months later, the proposal too was down-to-earth, nothing too fancy or eccentric about it. “You say you can't believe it, but of course you really can. I think all proposals are romantic. It was very down-to-earth and genuine. There was no crazy skywriting or anything like that, just nice words, and it was very sweet.” the starlet reveals to the magazine.
