It seems actual real-life gamers are not too interested in buying Project Natal from Microsoft and the PlayStation Move from Sony, the motion tracking systems set go on sale during the fall and will receive a lot of attention at the E3 trade show this week.

The GamePlan Insights tracking study, conducted in the United States by OTX, has shown that about 8 percent of those who own a Microsoft home console intend to pick up Natal, while just 6% of those who have a Sony device are ready to pay to get Move. The study was conducted on about 2,000 gamers from May 23 to June 5, 2010. Among those who are interested in picking up the motion tracking peripherals, approximately a quarter think about preordering them once launch dates and pricing are announced.

The OTX study is also showing that just 15% of the Xbox 360 market knows about Natal with a similar percentage of the PlayStation 3 market knowing about Move. This is set to change in the coming month as more information is offered and as marketing pushes for the devices begin to take shape. Both companies are aiming to take some market share from Nintendo Wii with a mix of casual titles and natural body control.

It's also nice to note that most people keen on getting Project Natal are very much interested in high profile Xbox 360 titles, like Gears of War 3, Fable III or Call of Duty: Black Ops. Those who want to buy the PlayStation Move are also fond of Little Big Planet 2, Gran Turismo 5 and SOCOM 4.   Out of the games listed above, only Fable III and SOCOM 4 have been mentioned as having support for motion tracking. Also, it seems about a quarter of those who are interested in the new Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Galaxy 2 feel the same regarding the Sony device.
