On January 3, we learned how a Saudi hacker collective, that claimed to be part of Anonymous, managed to leak credit card information on a large number of Israeli citizens as a result of a hacking operation against a major sports site. Now, an Israeli student claims he uncovered the true identity of one of the hackers called 0xOmar.

According to Ynet, the student, Amir Phadida put together the clues left by the 0xOmar and after a few hours he managed to identify the hacker as being a 19-year-old café employee from Mexico.

"Using this email address and some spare time, I embarked on an eight-hour journey and at the end I managed to reveal the identity of the hacker by collecting information that was scattered all over the internet, piece by piece – like a puzzle," Phadida wrote on his blog.

He reported that on a forum where pro-Palestinian issues were being debated, he stumbled upon the real email address of the hacker, an address that he utilized for his Facebook account.

Furthermore, Israeli card monitoring services found a third file released by 0xOmar which contained a Trojan horse.

Upon hearing the news, 0xOmar came forward with a statement, mocking and teasing the authorities.

“It's another failure of Israeli security agencies like Mossad, Interpol and Shin Bet. I really feel sorry for you Israeli authorities. That's all you can find? You are really so weak so! That's all?” the hacker wrote on Pastebin.

He challenges the authorities to find his true identity and denies publishing a third file containing malware.

“From here, I challenge the world to find me, let's the game begin. You have 2 weeks. If I come back and post another message after 2 weeks, simply you failed and I won the game.”

“P.S. I don't have third file and I don't publish viruses,” he concludes.
