Over the weekend, Capcom held its last major Street Fighter eSports tournament in San Francisco, and in honor of the occasion, it also allowed two pro players to experience Street Fighter V, the recently confirmed iteration in the series, while revealing that an old character is making a comeback, in the form of Charlie Nash.

The Street Fighter series has been around for quite some time, delighting tens of millions of fighting game fans across platforms such as arcade cabinets, consoles, and even PCs. The series is still quite popular and currently there are millions of people who are enjoying Ultra Street Fighter IV, the latest entry in the franchise, which launched for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 earlier this year.

While Capcom has been rumored to be working on a new title in recent months, the Japanese company made it official earlier this month by confirming that Street Fighter V was coming, through a gameplay video and a few screenshots depicting two of the most iconic characters in the franchise – Ryu and Chun-Li.

A live gameplay demonstration was made

Over the weekend, the special Capcom Cup eSports tournament took place in San Francisco and the publisher invited two pro players to demonstrate the upcoming Street Fighter V for all the world to see.

You can enjoy their brawl in the video below and you can admire just how impressive the upcoming title will be in terms of visuals, effects, and slight nuances about the stages, the objects that can be interacted with, and much more.

Don't forget that the new title, thanks to a partnership with Sony, is going to boast cross-platform multiplayer between the PS4 and the PC, meaning players from one device can fight against others from the other "side."

A brand new trailer shows a returning character

Besides organizing the live gameplay demonstration, Capcom also revealed a special, extended version of the trailer seen earlier this month that confirmed Street Fighter V. Besides once again showcasing an epic brawl between Ryu and Chun-Li, the studio also depicts, at the end of the footage, a mysterious character lifting a pair of eyeglasses.

As veteran fans might figure out, it's quite likely that the character is Charlie Nash, an old friend of series mainstay Guile and the protagonist of the Street Fighter Alpha titles. Recent titles considered Charlie dead, but it seems that some form of revival is in store for the character.

You can expect way more details about Street Fighter V in the following months.

Until then, check out the new videos below.
