Lighting is one of the key factors in photography as well as in cinematography, and having the right lighting gear can save you both time and money when you have to finish a large scale project on a tight schedule.

Crowdfunding is becoming more and more popular nowadays, and newly developed companies often turn to this type of funding to make their product a reality with the help of people that really believe they have a great idea.

This is also the case of new US-based manufacturer Strahlen, which aims to bring to the market a new LED light aimed at both photographers and filmmakers. The project comes to address a “big problem in the lighting industry,” where LEDs are “too expensive, poorly made, or difficult to modify,” as Andy Waplinger, Strahlen CEO, puts it.

The Strahlen ST-100 LED series comes with three models: ST-100T and ST-100D for tungsten and daylight color temperature and the bi-color ST-100B that allows you to change between the previously mentioned color temperatures with a flick of a switch.

These LED lights come with a robust all-aluminum housing that weighs less than most monobloc-style LED lights, but, at the same time, is thicker and more durable than any other LED light housing on the market.

Each light provides over 9,000 lumens, comes with a color rendering index of 90%, and consumes only 100W. The intensity of the light can be easily adjusted from 100% to 10% without having to worry about color shifts or flickering.

The lights come with an integrated design that allows you to deploy them quickly, without the need to carry around an additional power supply. Featuring a Bowens S-type accessory mount, the Strahlen LED lights can easily accommodate the most common softboxes and beauty dishes.

At the same time, these lights feature an additional magnetic attachment designed to provide support for Fresnel lenses (to narrow the beam spread 110° to 60°) as well as dome diffusers, ideal for photographers that usually work with bare bulb strobes.

If you want to support the project, you should head to the official Indiegogo page where, for $800 / €585, you could get your own Strahlen ST-100 LED light.
