October and November might be the lucky months

Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is already known to plan on coming to the market with sequels to some of its most popular handsets, and now a few more details (read rumors) on the launch time frame for these handsets have emerged. To be more precise, the BlackBerries in question are the Storm 2 and the Bold 2, which is also known as the Bold 9700 or Onyx.

It seems that BlackBerry fans out there won't have to wait too much for these handsets to surface on the market, at least when it comes to BlackBerry Storm 2, which should land in mid-October. According to the cool guy report, the second touchscreen-enabled handset from RIM is expected to land before the Bold 2, although previous rumors suggested that things were the other way around.

Moreover, the report also shows that Storm 2 will land on the market first on Vodafone's airwaves, with Verizon Wireless following about a week afterwards. Moreover, Canadian handset users should also see the touchscreen phone available for them at about the same time, or maybe a little later than Big Red's customers in the US.

As for the second-generation Bold, it should come about a month after the second Storm reaches the shelves. However, although RIM is reportedly planning to allow Storm 2 a little breathing time, maybe a month or a month and a half, it seems that T-Mobile UK might add the handset to its offering in October. The rest of us should look at a mid-November to early-December launch window.

Since no official announcement on either of the handsets has been made until now, we should go along with these pieces of information until something else emerges. One way or another, the one thing that seems to be shaping up pretty well here is that both the BlackBerry Storm 2 and the BlackBery 9700 Onyx will arrive on the market before the holiday season. Stay tuned for more details on this.
