Rockers put an end to media reports with tour announcement

Ever since November last year, the rockers from Aerosmith have been having a rather bad time, plagued by reports that they were about to split and looking for a replacement for Steven Tyler, rumors that originated from within the band no less. To set the record straight, the rockers have made an official announcement that they’re back on and preparing to go on tour, as People magazine can confirm.

The 20+-second video, uploaded to YouTube by the band’s representatives, leaves no doubt as to the fact that, from now on, rumors of the split will no longer hold water. Steven Tyler is back (with the band and from rehab) and he’s going nowhere anytime soon – except on the road with the guys with whom he sang and toured for almost the last 40 years of his life, writing music history in the process.

“Walk this way, Aerosmith fans! Recently rehabbed Steven Tyler is ready to rock again with his bandmates – and not without some effort on his part. ‘I just auditioned and I got the gig,’ Tyler, 61, jokes in a new video announcing his band’s upcoming European tour. ‘We’re coming your way and rocking your world. Look out baby – because here we come again’,” People magazine says of the (rather shocking) announcement coming from the iconic rock band.

“The rocker caused fans – and his bandmates – to worry about his health in Nov. 2009 after he displayed some erratic behavior which caused Aerosmith to cancel shows. Tyler ultimately entered rehab for painkiller addiction the next month. The band’s newly announced tour begins June 10 in Sweden – and wraps July 3 in Venice, Italy. No North American shows have been announced yet,” People goes on to inform.

This may have something to do with the fact that, less than a month ago, Steven Tyler was reportedly lashing out at his Aerosmith bandmates, telling them he would sue if they replaced him. At the time, word on the street had it that the other band members were thinking of getting Billy Idol to tour with them, at least until the situation with Tyler was settled.
