14 DAY TRIAL // Steve Jackson, co-founder of Lionhead Studios and creator of Sorcery tabletop-like game, and developer inkle have just announced that the re-creation of the gamebook series is now available on iOS platform.
Sorcery! for iOS is a unique type of game that uses inklewriter technology to tell players’ journey in real time, thus shaping the story around the choices they make.
The narrative game unfolds an epic fantasy plotline with a huge amount of player choice. Players will be part of an interactive game that will allow them to explore a gorgeously illustrated world populated with dangerous foes and fabulous beasts.
It is also worth mentioning that the text itself changes based on how you want to play and what you do in this huge fantasy world. For example, in combat, the action is described on the fly based on how one plays.
According to developers, the game features original illustrations by John Blanche, new character art by Eddie Sharam (DC Comics), an interactive map by Mike Schley (Wizards of the Coast) and music by David Wise (Donkey Kong Country).
The first part in the Sorcery! Saga is called “The Shamutanti Hills” and promises to offer thousands of extra choices, an original combat system that procedurally describes the fight as players advance into the game.
In addition, it contains a 3D map over which the journey is made, 48 spells, 77 original line illustrations, as well as all the characters, tricks, and traps of the original adventure.
“I am blown away by what inkle have done with Sorcery! Previous digital conversions recreated the paperback experience on the small screen, but this treatment is a radical new approach,” says Steve Jackson.Keep in mind that the second part of the Sorcery! series is called “Kharé: Cityport of Traps” and will be available for purchase via App Store soon.
