Stop complaining people, just read the books already!

The second episode of season 4 of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” brought another huge shocker with the Purple Wedding: the death of little tyrant King Joffrey, who was poisoned at his own nuptials to Margaery. To those upset by what you just read here because it’s a huge spoiler, Stephen King would say this: just read the books already!

King, the author of such classics as “The Shining,” “Carrie,” “It,” “The Dark Tower,” or “Salem’s Lot,” many of which have also been turned into film, took to Twitter the other day to wish farewell to Joffrey.

King was obviously happy he had finally gotten when he deserved, but fans of the series probably reacted differently than he had anticipated, telling him to quit it with the spoilers. The author’s next tweet read: “Come on, guys, it's been in the books for 15 years or so, and the episode ran tonight.”

“Another spoiler: Romeo and Juliet die in Act 5,” he posted later.

I doubt that his view that a true fan of a show or a film should also read the book on which it’s based is shared by many, but I admit that this is what I usually do. I don’t necessarily agree with Mr. King, but I would have told my angry followers that they should not go online if they want to avoid spoilers.

Twitter in particular is filled with them, especially after the night a new “GoT” episode airs.
