Showing that partners needn't be in the same branch of the economy, SteelSeries and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) have announced a collaboration. While SteelSeries will help UFC in some marketing ventures, the company will also make UFC Edition headsets and the QcK UFC Edition mousepad.

The headsets are the ones that will take a while to be launched, and there isn't really any exact time of arrival for them.

On the other hand, the mousepad is already up for sale, at $14.99 in the US and 14.99 Euro in Europe.

“We’re really excited to be partnering with SteelSeries not only by introducing a UFC mousepad and headsets, but also the creative and collaborative marketing efforts that we’ll be launching to both of our communities,” said UFC President, Dana White.

The SteelSeries QcK UFC Edition cloth mousepad has the official UFC red logo on a cage-like black and grey background.

The surface is smooth but the base is rubberized, meaning that it won't slip out from underneath a mouse.

“SteelSeries and UFC, though very different types of companies, have a number of similarities when it comes to their professional, sponsored players who exude the ‘winning is everything’ attitude, as well as loyal fans that are passionate, incredibly vocal, and active in their respective communities,” said Mark Joliffe, SteelSeries vice president of branded gaming peripherals.

“SteelSeries is looking forward to working with UFC in our marketing efforts and to introduce co-branded peripherals for UFC and MMA game fans.”

SteelSeries has become a sponsor for international octagon events and fighters, like Alexander Gustafsson, a top ten-ranked MMA fighter in UFC.

We, of course, will be more eagerly waiting for details on the headsets. We aren't sure when they will surface, beyond the vague “later this year.”
