Some time ago, SteelSeries brought forth the Shift gaming keyboard, and it seems that the company has decided to start selling a certain product that will turn that peripheral into one especially versatile for MMO gamers.

Since massively-multiplayer online games started to pick up speed, the IT industry began to actually create special products for them.

This led to the appearance of mice with many sets of buttons, and the possibility to set up macros and profiles by means of cache memory.

Then there are, of course, the many keyboards, headsets and other accessories intended to make MMO and any other games more enjoyable.

Still, SteelSeries decided to offer gamers an alternative to buying an overly specialized piece of hardware.

Said product is the MMO Keyset, one that is meant to be paired with the Shift gaming keyboard.

Basically, it has the SteelSeries ID2C unique programmed chip on the back, which uses the SteelSeries Engine Software to let users create macros.

Consumers can use drag-and-drop to record capabilities for every key, meaning that a sequence of actions, along with delays, can be mapped to any key.

One can also toggle between three layers of F keys, two of which are emote layers, for easy use of 24 common MMO emotes.

“The new MMO Keyset is an excellent example of how the SteelSeries Shift Keyboard is offering gamers an entirely new set-up, specific to the type of game they’re currently playing, without having to commit to a big purchase,” said Bruce Hawver, SteelSeries’ CEO.

A final advantage of the keyset is the anti-ghosting capability, which lets up to 7 keystrokes be made simultaneously.

The MMO Keyset is sold separately from the SteelSeries Shift keyboard itself and has a price of $24.99, or 24.99 Euro in Europe.
