Better known for its industrial systems and peripherals, Stealth Computer has recently announced the introduction of a new ultra-small and rugged PC, known as the LPC-125LPFM, designed specifically for fanless, industrial, in-vehicle and embedded applications.

The compact system is housed in an all-black chassis that is slightly larger than a deck of playing cards (117x155x52mm) and weights a mere 0.54kg (or 1.2lbs).

At the heart of the system stands Intel's Atom D525 Pineview processor that includes dual computing cores with Hyper-Threading support, working at a frequency of 1.8GHz.

The Intel processor is seconded by 2GB of SO-DIMM DDR3 system memory (upgradeable to 4GB), and the expansion options list also includes an internal Mini-PCIe slot.

The rest of the I/O connectors are found in the front and back of the machine where Stealth has placed a Gigabit LAN port, three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA video output (supports resolution up to 2048x1536 @ 60Hz), audio in/out connectors, a pair of PS/2 ports, and one external Express Card slot.

The LPC- 125LPFM computer comes standard with a 55GB solid state drive which enables it to work in harsh environments at temperatures ranging from -10 to 45 degrees Celsius (14 to 113F).

If extended temperature, shock and vibration is not a concern, the ultra small computer can also be configured with a 2.5-inch mobile hard drive with capacities up to 750GB.

“The LPC-125LPFM is the smallest fanless PC we have offered to date,” said Ed Boutilier, the company's CEO.

“The rugged chassis, wide operating temperatures, DC voltage input and our smart power interface for controlled system start-up and shut-down makes it ideal for embedded, field and in-vehicle computing apps," concluded the company's rep.

Pricing for Stealth's Computer latest offering starts at $895 (about 649 EUR) for the version that packs 2GB of RAM and a 55GB solid state drive.
