From science fiction novel to mobile game

The Starship Troopers story line and action has managed to turn it from a science fiction novel into a movie and PC game. Now, Ojom brings this concept to mobile phone gamers too.

Starship Troopers- Roughnecks follows a young Filipino soldier named Juan "Johnny" Rico and his Mobile Infantry experiences. The character evolves from simple recruit to the position of officer in an interstellar war between mankind and an invading species, simply called "the Bugs".

This novel's concept has been adapted for mobile phone gaming, thus allowing players to take the battle between humankind and insects anywhere with them. Sounds like a game with a simple concept which also adds an easy-to-use interface. This sounds enough for turning out to be appealing for any mobile phone owners who only want to be entertained, even if this is done by shooting some bugs. There is also the noble goal of saving mankind from being taken over by bugs.

Ojom says that mobile phone gamers will enjoy the interface of Starship Troopers-Roughnecks. The gameplay is also highly challenging, as it brings a large number of enemies to be destroyed with the supercharged assault rifle.

"We are delighted to add Starship Troopers to our list of titles; it is an exhilarating arcade style shoot 'em up that we hope will appeal to a cross section of mobile gamers. We feel that it's fast and lots of fun, but it also has an added element of uncertainty because you're never quite sure what could be waiting for you around the next corner", said Marc Bu?e, Channel Manager, of Ojom GmbH.

The game works on any Java-enabled handsets and will be offered through most major mobile operators in Europe. Starship Troopers will be available for mobile phone gaming starting April, this year.
