Since the Star Trek MMO is being constantly delayed, maybe sci-fi fans out there will enjoy what promises to be a great tactical modern combat, story-driven MMORPG. The game called Stargate Worlds is still under development and a trailer will be released today, together with the mid-season premiere of the Stargate Atlantis series.

After you get to see this trailer and understand how this game will look like, you will be able to enter a competition starting on the 18th of January that will allow you to get your name included in Stargate Warlords and in the Unlock the Gate Sweepstakes. This means that you will actually be able to become part of the Stargate history. In order to do this, you will have to watch Stargate Atlantis every Friday and receive, by doing this, an unique code to enter the competition. The prize includes $5,000 and a 2-night/3-day trip to Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment studios on Sponsor-selected dates. Also, it is limited to US persons only.

Now, back to the game, the players should know that they will explore new worlds and encounter ancient alien cultures across the galaxy. New worlds and characters will be introduced into the game, together with the already known ones from the Stargate universe. And that is what the upcoming trailer wants to prove to everybody.

The trailer will give gamers and fans a glimpse at what they can expect to find in Stargate Worlds," said Rod Nakamoto, senior vice president of product development, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment. "It's a mix of old and new elements that hint at the direction we are taking the franchise."

Stargate Worlds is based on Stargate SG-1. Stargate SG-1 is the longest-running science fiction series in US television history, airing 213 episodes over 10 years.
