Blizzard Entertainment has released Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, delivering the most highly-anticipated RTS game to gamers worldwide, including those rocking Mac OS X. The game is being made available in both retail boxed version, and as a digital download. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is the sequel to Blizzard Entertainment's 1998 StarCraft computer game, which is considered one of the best real-time strategy games of all time.

Building on the success of its predecessor, StarCraft II is focused on the clash between the protoss, terrans, and zerg, with each side deploying units from the original StarCraft, along with numerous upgraded and new units and abilities. Developed for concurrent release on Windows and Mac OS X, StarCraft II is split into three installments: the base game with the subtitle Wings of Liberty, expansion pack Heart of the Swarm, and expansion pack Legacy of the Void.

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty's solo campaign will continue the epic saga where it left off in StarCraft: Brood War.  The action is set in the 26th century in a distant part of our galaxy, and revolves around three species: the Terrans (human exiles from Earth), the Zerg (a race of insectoid genetic assimilators), and the Protoss (a species with vast psionic power). Wings of Liberty will have a specific focus on the Terrans. Focusing on the Zerg and Protoss are the expansions Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. According to Blizzard Entertainment, the main features of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty include:

- Fast-paced, hard-hitting, tightly balanced competitive real-time strategy gameplay that recaptures and improves on the original game - Three completely distinct races: Protoss, Terran, and Zerg - Units and gameplay mechanics distinguish each race - 3D-graphics engine with support for visual effects and massive unit and army sizes - Full multiplayer support, with competitive features and matchmaking utilities available through Battle.net
