The development team at BioWare working on Star Wars: The Old Republic announces the community that the 1.6 update for the MMO is now available on the official test servers, allowing all those interested to check out the newly introduced features.

The main addition coming in update 1.6, called Ancient Hypergate, is a new Warzone that introduces a new Player versus Player game mechanic.

Players will be able to join either Republic or Imperial forces as they fight in order to control powerful pylons that can deliver new reinforcements to the battlefield in order to turn the tide of battle.

Gamers will also get access to new Heroic Mode Space Missions that are available to those who are over level 50, allowing them to engage in six new battles that pit them against the best pilots in the game world.

BioWare says: “Unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer the ability to copy characters for this test. Be sure to visit the Star Wars™: The Old Republic Test Center to learn more.”

The team adds, “at this time we will not be providing Customer Support for this test server. Attempts to file in-game tickets will result in an error message and will not be processed. All gameplay policies are still in place. Inappropriate or abusive players will not be tolerated on the test server and we ask that you please report this behavior to Customer Support here.”

Full patch notes are available on the official The Old Republic website.

BioWare is asking players to offer feedback on update 1.6 for The Old Republic and says that as soon as the new content is thoroughly tested, it will be launched for the entire MMO community.

The new Star Wars title has just gone free-to-play, less than one full year since it was launched, and BioWare promises that it will continue to offer long-term content updates for the MMO.
